The minature faerie carriage

This photo shows the carriage near to completion. I have added a magic wand and a small bouquet of roses. Since this was published I have put in the steps (a white glittery ladder) and a few more bits. The carriage has tiny sequins inside and out, so that when the light shines on it it has a  magical effect :)  The 'driver's' seat is a little bit of toadstool(soft, for long journeys!) on a piece of bark.

The minature faerie carriage

Here you can see how I started to put the inside of the carriage together. The piece of moss is sitting on top of a piece of bark, to make the seat. The folded velvet petal holds a tiny 'glass' slipper, and there is a pearl in the carriage too!

You can see how I (carefully!) put the tissue paper on, in large 'patches'. As I soaked it with watered down P.V.A glue, I had to be really careful it didn't rip!

The wire frame was covered with florist's wire in green, as I wanted it to look like vines, (leaves have yet to be added). The picture shows the frame, without the spokes, which I crafted in wire and looked better uncovered...... without the tape.....

The minature faerie carriage

Making a tiny carriage seemed a good idea at the time! I thought about doing it with a hollowed out goard, but wanted it to look slightly 'delicate' I achieved this effect by first building a wire frame and using white tissue paper......Almost like a lantern......

Mad Hatter's Faerie tea story.......

My friends Matt Hawk and Laume Zekus  are  wonderful, creative artists who brought my tea to life, and I wanted to honour that by adding ideas of theirs to my piece. Because the tea party they created had toadstools in, I added those. Also as it was clearly 'mad hatter' style, (the tea cups being all miss matched!) I decided to add more bits......The pack of cards, red paint pot,' eat me' and 'drink me' signs......I really enjoyed making this piece!

Mad Hatter's Faerie tea Story.......

The table is set for a Mad Hatter's Faerie tea! The corners have little toadtsools and there is a tiny bottle with 'Drink Me' and a small red paint pot, to paint the white roses red!

Mad Hatter's Faerie Tea story.....

My faerie tea was brought to life at a Neverworlds event! It was 'upsized' , but with a twist: They put little toadstools around a moss covered table and based it on the Mad Hatter's tea.......So I thought I would honour that with a minature version!

Faerie wash stand......

After 'cooking' the heart shaped mirror, to which I added pearls, I added more moss and a few flowers. Then got to work on the drawer.....you can see it is  not completely dry in this shot. I put little crushed shells and more bubbles in it......Added soap and a wash cloth , a few more pearls and it is ready for the faeries :)

Faerie wash stand......

First I glued on the shells that I had chosen for this piece, using wood glue AND a hot glue gun. I 'filled the shell basin up ' with 'soapy bubbles' and fixed on a beautiful glass fish for a tap. Then the moss was added, ready to place the mirror. The tricky bit was getting the 'water' to look as if it was coming from the tap!

Faerie potion chest

Faerie potion chest

Faerie potion chest , showing the drawers which contain seasonal herbs, plants and everything a faerie needs to make their potions! I have included a Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter drawer. On the top of the chest is a pestle and mortar, chopping board (on which a mandrake plant is ready to be prepared!), toadstools of every kind, dragon eggs......Woops! One has broken! ......and not forgetting the essential faerie dust!

Faerie closet

The faerie closet, showing the drawer contents: tiny shoes, faerie flower crown and gems, wings and sparkles!......The closet displays more faerie shoes, wings and faerie clothes.......

Faerie closet

I wanted to include faerie wings and shoes in this piece, and found the perfect wings! I used a part of my mother's confirmation  veil band in this too, as she is no longer with us .......It has been used to make the crown and wand on top of the closet.

Faerie cabinet

I then worked on the shelves, a pot of faerie dust, toadstools and of course a cake! The books were made from polymer clay which I wrapped around tiny doll house books, as I wanted them to stay partially open.

Faerie cabinet

I wanted to work on something a little larger again, but not wanting to do another faerie house, opted for a magical faerie cabinet! I used a favourite cupboard from a Victorian doll's house I once owned......Happily I kept all the furniture and dolls :)
First I painted the piece using acrylic paint, which I later sanded down to give it a 'worn' look. I started on the drawers first, filling them with little spangly treasures!

Faerie garden in a wine glass

This project was inspired by seeing toadstools under glass domes. I had some minature wine glasses(half size) and decided to use these for the gardens......

Wallnut shell gardens

I first baked the wallnuts for about ten minutes in a moderate oven. This makes it easier to prize the shells open with less chance of them cracking. I did have a couple of accidents! Then I put some green felting wool inside, and some glitter in the shells I wanted to hang.I then added polymer(tiny!) toadstools and flowers. I had some minute butterfly stickers, which I also added......
